Coast-to-Coast Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary

Consecration to Jesus through Mary: does the notion pique your interest? Does it sound spiritually powerful, or does it raise questions? Many people have consecrated themselves to Jesus through Mary over the years. Others have considered it, but not completed it. This year, starting on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28, 2019, a Coast-to-Coast Total Consecration will begin in the United States. On that day, interested faithful will have the opportunity to begin to prepare for what often is referred to simply as “Marian Consecration.”

Coast-to-Coast Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary

The Flame of Love Movement, dedicated to spreading the good news of the signal grace Flame of Love of Mary’s Immaculate Heart, is the driving force behind this Coast-to-Coast Consecration. Lori Brown is a leader in the Flame of Love Movement. She tells of how the group’s national advisory panel discussed a group consecration or re-consecration during a recent phone call. That idea grew quickly into one of broader scope, resulting in the Coast-to-Coast project. Many of the group then traveled on pilgrimage to Medjugorje. While there, they, “handed out hundreds of cards to pilgrims from around the world,” promoting the Consecration. Other associations of the faithful are beginning to promote this as well. Because of this, Brown believes that the Coast-to-Coast Consecration will actually become global in scope.

Why National or Global Consecration to Jesus through Mary?

For one thing, Jesus tells us, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Mt 18:20). On top of that, though, Brown talks of the “great outpouring of graces that will result.”  She tells us that, “A huge army of praying warriors will be making this consecration together,” resulting in a torrent of graces. And do we ever need access to an abundance of grace in these times! Just take a look at the daily news to see how rampant evil is in every aspect of modern life. As Father Michael Gaitley, MIC, says, “In times of unprecedented evil, God wants to give us unprecedented grace.” Thousands upon thousands of souls setting themselves aside for Jesus through Mary can open up the pipeline to that grace.

What This Consecration Involves

The Consecration will follow the 33-day format suggested by St. Louis de Montfort in True to Devotion to Mary. Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, in his book 33 Days to Morning Glory, uses a 33-day schedule as well. There are brief meditations and a few prayers to recite each day during this time. Not to worry, though—this does not require a huge daily time commitment. Anyone, even busy laity, can fit this consecration into their schedules quite easily. At the end of the period, on the date of Consecration, organizers anticipate two separate live streams. These live streams will allow individuals, regardless of location, to participate via the web with thousands of others at the same time who are making the consecration together.

Schedule for the Consecration to Jesus through Mary

The Consecration kicks off on April 28th.  This date is significant because it is:

  • On the Feast of Divine Mercy this year
  • The 84th anniversary, to the day, of the first celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday attended by St. Faustina
  • St. Louis de Montfort’s feast day

Participants will make an act of consecration on May 31, 2019. This date is significant as well. It represents:

  • The Feast of The Lady of All Nations—recognizing her role as Advocate, Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix – Holland
  • The Feast of Mary, Mediatrix – Belgium
  • The end of the month of May—the Month of Mary
  • The Feast of the Visitation—the first time that Our Lady passed on her Flame of Love in her visit to St. Elizabeth and St. John the Baptist
What Does “Consecration” Mean, Anyway?

We frequently hear about people or things being consecrated. Specifically, what does it mean to be “consecrated”? According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, if someone or something is consecrated, it means that they are set aside for God. Therefore, totally consecrating ourselves to Jesus through Mary means that we are setting ourselves aside for Him, through her. You can read more about this here.

Why Would I Want To Consecrate Myself To Jesus Through Mary?

Fair enough, you may say, but “Why consecrate myself this way?” St. Louis de Montfort gives us many good reasons, including:

It devotes us entirely to the service of God…Jesus, our great friend, has given Himself to us without reserve…Is it not, then, a simple matter of justice and gratitude that we should give Him all that we can…?

We offer and consecrate all we are and all we have to the Blessed Virgin in order that our Lord may receive through her mediation the glory and the gratitude which we owe him…Moreover this devotion is a practice of great humility, which God loves above all the other virtues.

[Mary] presents [our] good works to Jesus…she persuades Jesus to accept these good works, however little and poor the present may be…

But we must remark that, inasmuch as our good works pass through the hands of Mary, they receive an augmentation of purity, and consequently of merit, and of satisfactory and impetratory value…

…she [Mary] gives herself to that soul without reserve, if only we put our confidence in her without presumption, and labor on our side to acquire virtues, and to bridle our passions.

St. Maximilian Kolbe gives us another reason to for Marian Consecration:

Modern times are dominated by Satan and will be more so in the future. The conflict with hell cannot be engaged by men, even the most clever. The Immaculata alone has from God the promise of victory over Satan. However, assumed into Heaven, the Mother of God now requires our cooperation. She seeks souls who will consecrate themselves entirely to her, who will become in her hands effective instruments for the defeat of Satan and the spreading of God’s kingdom upon earth.

If You Are Thinking About Consecration

So, how about it? Do you desire to become a more effective instrument in the hands of Our Lady for the defeat of the evil one? Would you like to more effectively spread the kingdom of God on earth? If so, you can register, at no cost, for the Coast-to-Coast Total Consecration here. Once you register, you will receive updates and more specifics as additional information becomes available from the organizers.

If you are interested in making a Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary or renewing your previous consecration, do you have to participate in the Coast-to-Coast Consecration? No, you do not. However, why would you not want to be part of such a spiritually awesome undertaking, lifting up your prayers with so many others? Why would you not want to be open to the super abundance of graces available?

  1. Some may judge the intercession of Mary to be superfluous , noting “there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human” (1 Tim 2:5). Yet, Without the “Yes” of Mary’s freewill, there is no Jesus Christ, no God-man.

    1. Indeed, Bob. And what’s more, “…the prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.” James 5:16 – As apologist Jim Burnham explains it (Beginning Apologetics I) who is more righteous than the saints in heaven, and who among them is more righteous than our Blessed Mother, the greatest saint, whose fiat resulted in the Christ, the God-man and whose humility we do well to imitate.

And, as Dave Armstrong tells us in The Catholic Mary, “…People help others, bringing back sinners, and it is said that they “will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:20). That’s all mediation. If a righteous person has more effective prayer, it makes eminent sense to go to the most righteous creature who ever lived, the Immaculate Mary. She still exists; she is more alive than ever, and is aware of earthly events, just as Hebrews 12:1 talks about the “cloud of witnesses” observing us from heaven, and just as we see the souls under the altar in heaven praying (Revelation 6:9–10)…”

For readers struggling with this concept, I recommend Armstrong’s The Catholic Mary and Tim Staples’ book, Behold Your Mother, as just two of many qualified, highly researched, cogent explications of all things Marian.

      Thanks for your post, Bob!

  2. Thank you for this great initiative.

Mary Mediatrix of All Graces can obtain great and unthinkable graces for us all. Praying many may give their life to Jesus through Her for the first time or renew their Consecration.

    God bless.

    1. Xavier – the Flame of Love Family is responsible, with God’s grace and Mary’s guidance, for this initiative. I am sure they will see your kind words and be appreciative. – God bless – Dom

  3. Ok, goosebumps…

Check out this prophetic word, published today, from a Protestant woman who I believe to have a very genuine prophetic gift, but who also happens to be anti-Catholic. (Not as in against Catholics the people, she’s a sweet lady. Just anti-Catholic in the typical sense of not understanding the true nature and teachings of the faith. Love it when “anti-Catholic” Protestants and faithful Catholics align in message…)

  5. Of all the “doors” our Lord Jesus could choose to come through, to enter our humanity, He chose only one, our Blessed Mother. So, if we want to go to Jesus, our Savior, why not go back through the same door He entered, our Blessed mother!

  6. Kathleen Virnig

Our Lady of America should lead this fabulous movement of Consecration through the immaculate Heart of Mary with Mary’s Flame of Love over all Nations in honor of the reign of Jesus our Savior and King !Alleluia! Kathleen V.

  7. Can you make this into a printer friendly version for people to print and place in their churches (with pastor’s permission, of course)?

  8. Edward Grotpeter

My name is Ed. I am a Deacon. I am grateful for this opportunity and suggestion. My family and any parishioners I can talk to will participate. My daughter who loves in LA. and friends will also.
Mary recently said at Medjugorje that the salvation of the world would be to approach Jesus through her. Please all join and spread the word.
    Deacon Ed

  9. I am renewing mine according to St. Louis de Montfort.
Thank you, great idea, the Immaculate Heart will Triumph…..but it would be nice to reduce
    the bloodshed.

My I suggest that you combine this apostlate in the USA with the request by Our Lady of America to Sister Mildred in the 1950 to 80’s ( and is approved by her bishop and Cardinal Burk is for it) to honor Our Lady of America and have the bishops process her statue into the Ntl. Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Wash. DC in a public honor. This needs to be done if we are to save our country, look at France how the Revolution took place and they were asked and it wasn’t done! (Only when it was too late)

    1. Thanks for your suggestion – I understand that the Flame of Love Family has been working to get media coverage of this, so hopefully the coverage, including EWTN, will grow. – God bless, Dom

  10. Kathy Tesoriero

I remember back in the early 80’s when i made my Consecration twas at Immaculate Heaet church in Phoenix Az….we were all standing outside…waiting to process in (was feast of immaculate conception)
When all of a sudden the air filled with the Most Aromatic scent of Roses!!
Out of no where….many wept as we felt so intensly our HOLY MOTHERS presence!

    1. Kathy, thanks for sharing your experience with us – what an awesome consolation from Our Lady! Isn’t it something when a group gets together and feels the palpable presence of Our Blessed Mother? God bless – Dom
