A Devotional : Light of Life

“Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled,”

 [Luke 1:45].

We all know the pleasure of being outdoors on a beautiful day under a big blue sky with the warmth and light of the sun on our faces. A feeling of peace and serenity comes over us and we want to hold onto that feeling for as long as possible. We can hold onto that feeling when we do the work of our Lord. As His disciples, we can brighten and give warmth to our world with rays of faith, hope, and charity. Our work is not easy, especially when the news events of the day seem to be all bad. However, that is when the need is greatest.

Without the sunshine, our world would be a very cold and dark place. When a seed is buried in the ground, it requires the sun and the rain to bring it to life for everyone to see. And so it is with us — we need the Lord to shine upon us and replenish us with His living waters so we can live as God wants us to live, otherwise, we remain buried in the cold darkness of sin.

Mary our Blessed Mother

When we put our full faith and trust in God, we are given the grace—the light— to see our world as our Lord sees it—with love and mercy in our hearts. Truly, Mary our Blessed Mother is our beautiful role model. During her earthly life, Mary met everyone and every challenge with compassion, mercy, patience and most of all, with God’s love in her heart. Mary’s heart never hardened because of her faith in God.

“Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled,” said Elizabeth to Mary at the Visitation [Luke 1:45].

Jesus shone through Mary during the visitation because Mary believed in the Word of God and said yes to His calling. We are called to do the same.

Light of Life

Once faith takes hold of us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Son of God can shine through us, and we can grow and blossom into being Christ-like in our daily living. Good works replace sinful acts, selflessness overcomes selfishness, and hope is given to the hopeless. Like Mary, we can bring joy into our world when we say yes to God’s call and allow Jesus to live within us and through us each and every day, even in our darkest days. Yes, our faith will be tested, but our Lord will reinforce our faith with His love and mercy so that we can live life as it is meant to be lived—with the peace and serenity of knowing our lives are in good hands—in God’s hands. In turn, we too can be a source of light and warmth for those of us still struggling in the dark. May the Light of Life shine upon us and through us in all the days of our lives.

  2. The grace and the need to trust in God , in His goodness , being the great need of our times and reason may be Bl.Mother has been often sent to our midst , to remind us of same ,
to receive that trust , through what might be seen as the simple , yet powerful devotion –
    The Rosary prayers .

Thank God ,more are finding out same , sites and articles such as above also helping .

Thus , we are invited to rejoice in how The Lord prepared and helped to purify the holy line
through the Chosen People , a line that was also targeted by the enemy for destruction , thus accounting for the many battles in O.T .
That line brings forth The Woman , conceived ‘Immaculate ‘ and The Lord steps in , in the fullness of time , extending His trust in her , willing to entrust The Lord of the universe ,as a tiny Life, unto the care of Joseph and Mary , to help bring redemption to all !

They too find the grace to trust in His plans ..even as many a father and mother too do , in our times too and any parent who feel unappreciated at any time can say with delight – ‘ yes , we too have been given the grace to trust , in Him and each other so many times..’

Priests and the Faithful too , how we are invited to trust in the miracle of the Holy Mass ,
and of the Priesthood , thus also becoming the vessels of the Abrahamic blessings .

May The Father continue to bless us all , to be blessings !

Glory be to The Most Holy Trinity .
