Breaking News: We Are All Going to Die!

universe, creation, wonder, future, scouts, scouting turmoil

universe, creation, wonder, scouts, scouting turmoil

This just in . . .Everyone in the whole world will one day die!

The only exception to this inevitable event is if we are alive at the end of the world, on the last day, when the dead rise first, and then the real Christians are caught up in the air to meet and greet Jesus Christ at the Second Coming.

So many people today live as if they will never die. They never go to Church, and they never try to meditate on the Passion of Jesus Christ. They entertain themselves constantly with pornography, gourmet food, movies, TV, and computer games, etc. They never pick up the Word of God and read it, much less study it and meditate on it. What kind of evil place might these people wind up in 10, 20, 30, 50, or 80 years from now, forever, unless they repent?

For the record, we will not be coming to a natural end, but rather, a supernatural end. We will all be judged by Jesus Christ after death, and everything we ever said and did will be played back to us in a life review, just like a movie.  So will your movie be a horror movie, or will it be a great family movie with a happy ending?  Jesus tells us all about our final judgment in Matthew 25:31-46.  What do you think that Jesus Christ will say to you upon completion of your life review?  Will He say

“Well done, my good and faithful servant. I was hungry and you fed me; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was naked and you clothed me, etc.  Now enter into My Kingdom, forever.”

Or . . . will he say

“You never fed me when I was hungry; you never gave me drink when I was thirsty; you never visited me in prison.  Away from Me, I never knew you!”

And what if you died today in a car wreck?  Are you ready to meet Jesus Christ today?

The three thousand people who were murdered by the Islamic terrorists on 9/11/01 had no idea that morning that they would be meeting Jesus Christ face-to-face that very day for their eternal judgment.  Nor did the thousands of victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami, or the Haitian earthquake.  One minute they were here alive on earth doing just fine, and the next minute they were all dead. It could be you today or tomorrow who die without warning.  There are probably thousands of people in hell today who were here on earth yesterday enjoying air conditioning, lasagna, soft beds, steak, sex, movies, etc.  These damned people would gladly give up their entire life savings and every pleasure they ever had while they were alive to just have 5 minutes back here on earth, away from the demons, the worms, and the fires of hell. Sadly, it’s too late for them. It’s not too late for us, however.

So get to confession, as soon as possible, and try to go regularly. Get as many indulgences as you can. Start praising and thanking God, not only for who He is, but also for His Sorrowful Passion and for all that He has given you. Stop pursuing the false idols of earthly riches, pleasure, power, and drugs, as though they were the end-all of life.  Begin to read up on the Saints and try to imitate them. Start mortifying your body a little every day. Start saying your rosary every day. Pray for forgiveness, and pray for others, especially for poor sinners and for the poor souls in purgatory.  Start going to Eucharistic Adoration weekly, if possible. Turn off the talk radio and start listening to Catholic CDs and teachings. Pray that you, your family, your friends, and your enemies will not die without the sacraments at the time of death. Go to Mass every Sunday, and during the week if possible, to get your daily bread you pray for in the “Our Father.”  Start reading and meditating on scripture daily.  Start helping the poor as much as possible, monetarily AND in person. God wants to save us from our sins, but since He gave us the gift of free will, we have to choose Him, as He has already chosen us.  And when we choose Him, there is much work to do. There are souls to be saved. There are the hungry to be fed.  There are prisoners who need to be visited. There are sick to be cared for. There are the naked to be clothed.  And He expects you and me to do that (Matthew 25:31-46).

Belief in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior is a great start, but Revelation 20:12-13 says that you will be judged on what you HAVE DONE, not on what you believed.  Don’t fall for the false theology that says that belief in Jesus Christ as God is all you need. That is a wonderful thing for sure, but even the demons believe that. In Catholic theology, belief in Jesus Christ is much more than just an intellectual assent that He exists and is God; rather, belief in Jesus Christ means that you and I have to imitate Him! Jesus told us all in Luke 9:23 to deny our very selves, pick up our cross DAILY, and follow him to Calvary.  That is much more than just saying

“I believe in Jesus Christ as my personal lord and savior!”

Going to Mass on Sunday, receiving Jesus in Holy Communion, and then doing nothing for your fellow men the rest of the week is as useless as filling up your car with gas and then never going anywhere.

Remember, the time for God’s mercy is now; after death, it is time for God’s judgment.

The choice we all have to make in this life is simple: Either our body will one day drag our soul down to hell, or our soul will one day lift our body into heaven.  Now is the time to choose wisely, as there may not be a tomorrow for some of us.

The Saints Speak Out

“All would wish to be saved and to enjoy the glory of paradise; but to gain heaven, it is necessary to walk in the straight road that leads to eternal bliss. This road is the observance of the divine commandments. Hence, in his preaching, the Baptist exclaimed: Make straight the way of the Lord.”

–St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, Doctor of the Church

“Nothing afflicts the heart of Jesus so much as to see all His sufferings of no avail to so many.”

–St. Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney, the Cure of Ars, Patron Saint of Parish Priests

“To obtain salvation we must tremble at the thought of being lost, and tremble not so much at the thought of hell, as of sin, which alone can send us there. He who dreads sin avoids dangerous occasions, frequently recommends himself to God, and has recourse to the means of keeping himself in the state of grace. He who acts thus will be saved; but for him who lives not in this manner it is morally impossible to be saved.”

–St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, Doctor of the Church

In the Great Deluge in the days of Noah, nearly all mankind perished, eight persons alone being saved in the Ark. In our days a deluge, not of water but of sins, continually inundates the earth, and out of this deluge very few escape. Scarcely anyone is saved.”

–St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, Doctor of the Church

  1. James Jimmy Taylor

this church started by peter the first one to put himself as GOD on earth being the first pope .
I WAS ONCE BLIND AND DEAF AND FULLY ASLEEP BY THE LIES AND DOGMA TOLD BY THESE DEVILS MADE PRIESTS I ASK YOU TO THINK JESUS IS NOT THE MESSIAHS NAME NOR WAS HE BORN 12/25 NOR WAS MARY HIS MOTHER HOLY SHE WAS A SINNER LIKE TYHE REST OUT OF HER OWN MOUTH SHE SAID MY SAVIOR …SO WAKE UP GOD BLESS AND PEACE BE YOURS

  2. The bottom line is to live your life every day as if it were your last on planet earth…Love God with your whole heart, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. If you can’t to those two things, then ask Mother Mary to pray for you that you will one day.

  3. So Ray your real message is We Will Never DIe! and we better get ready for the death of our bodies-well said. Think about it-those in power who promise pleasure to those who will empower them say every day “I will make it possible for you to feel good right now as much as you can feel good. Don’t worry about tomorrow.” That’s how they take over the job of defining what is and what is not a sin- becuase if there is zero nada after bodily death, there is no sin. I hope many office holders read your article and realize-there is a heaven and there is a hell. Thank you. Guy McClung

  4. This is a very good article and a good reminder that we all need. We should also remember to pray for and sacrifice for the Holy Souls in Purgatory to ease their suffering and shorten their time of purification. They help us immensely in our own lives when we pray for them and they are extremely grateful!

  5. ” This just in . . .Everyone in the whole world will one day die! ”

Breaking news, the ONLY reason you die is because you are born.

    1. Slight correction: The only reason we die is because we were conceived. We are alive well before birth. 🙂

    2. Ha ! Actually it’s about being ” alive and well ” before birth and then thrown into
a body that will not only DIE but (unless your being presumptuous) possibly not even be saved. 🙁 🙂 🙂

    3. Actually, we have our bodies before birth. 🙂

(And I didn’t say “We are alive and well before birth”, I said, “We are alive well before birth”, just FYI.)

    4. ” Actually, we have our bodies before birth. 🙂 ”

So, is the body in a well state before birth ; a body predestined to die – and at that point may possibly be damned at the resurrection ? It seems there’s a lot riding on being born just once if that is so, taking into account our pathetically weak.and flawed nature.

    5. The body is created in a natural human state (not depraved, as Protestants believe), but yet without the gift of sanctifying grace that Adam and Eve lost. So, yes, the body starts its trip to death the second it’s created. Every human being receives enough (actual) grace to get to Heaven. Not every soul will respond to the actual grace (which is like “nudges” from God), so not every soul will be saved. If you are interested in the difference between actual grace and sanctifying grace, I explained it here:

      http://littlecatholicbubble.blogspot.com/2011/02/answers-to-doctrinal-quiz-show-amazing.html

And yes, a lot is riding on our response to God. A lot. But God gives us all that we need to get to Him. It’s a matter of listening, or being willing to listen. That is why pride is the greatest sin.

    6. ” Every human being receives enough (actual) grace to get to Heaven. Not every soul will respond to the actual grace ”

Since we are fallen, some more than others it seems, something is missing from the equation you would think – this equation thought up by the way by the folks that righteously speculated on babies not seeing God under certain conditions. That aside, I wonder why God would have bodies all ready to go knowing that some of them were destined for a horrible ending ? It seems like in our state of
concupiscence it would be like letting children (of God) play with
knives. We don’t let our kids do that with so much at stake so why do you think God allows it.

    7. james, if you are truly interested, there are plenty of answers (your questions have been asked and answered for millennia now). Would you like a book recommendation for a start? If you are sincerely wondering, that is.

Also, this was not “thought up” by anyone, it’s revealed through the Church. The reason that theologians speculated about Limbo is precisely because that information (what happens to unbaptized babies) was not revealed.

You seem confused about what the Church does and does not teach, and what is and is not revelation.

As to the question of why God allows evil, that is because of the nature of love. Love must be chosen or it’s not love (can you imagine love that is forced? It’s not love). Free will is a great gift, but it can be used recklessly. I may give my child a car, but there is always the chance that he could use it recklessly and get killed. Should no young person ever get a car? Loose analogy of course. And, “foreseen does not mean pre-ordained”. God does not predetermine our destinies. We freely choose. He knows what we will choose, but he does not force it. And we have till our last breath to respond to his grace.

    8. Thanks for the offer, Leila but I’m really not wondering. I’m sincerely asking in a give and take session designed for the readers. I have had my questions answered over time by listening, reading and reflection.

Yes, as far as I and many others are concerned it was thought up by very fallible men whose perspective on the world they lived in was narrow, limited and biased. Can you imagine these theologians today postulating in a world
linked by the internet, arguing their case in a multicultural world where
pontiff’s resign and others drop into wish the local Buddhist monks a good day. Even St John Paul met the Dali lama many times over his pontificate. These ancient holy men not only denounced Jews but wouldn’t be caught dead with any of the above for fear of scandal – and you think the church
will continue to hold their thought processes in almost infallible regard over
      the coming millennium ?!

No, not confused at all. Contrary to what you may think, I received a very good parochial education and assimilated the overwhelming deposit of dogma and tradition. However, I have reason and intellect and most importantly because I live in an age where our knowledge of world religions and timelines have been put into a perspective – after 2000 years the church has acquired 17% of the world’s population while another 15% has spun out of the Catholic orbit over some of the very points we are debating.

Your quote – ” God does not predetermine our destinies. We freely choose.”

My quote – So, is the body in a well state before birth ; a body predestined to die” Very loose analogy indeed as we were talking bodies dying ; if every kid who drove a car died in an accident … now that’s quite a different scenario.

In the end, dear Liala I think we both did well. Ha ! 🙂

    9. Thank you for confirming that you are still only interested rehashing your own anti-Catholic opinions, under the all-too-familiar banner of “But I went to Catholic school!” You can read my reversion story to know the weight that has with me. 🙂

Yes, I believe the Church would teach exactly what she did then as she does now on matters of revelation and natural law. On matters that Jesus never revealed? As always, she speculates only. This is not brain surgery, james.

You are still stuck in your prideful mode of “the Church surely will change with the times!” That’s why I wrote the following post using your (previous) words, which speaks for itself (and addresses all the other jameses over the past 20 centuries):

      https://catholicstand.com/are-you-waiting-for-the-church-to-change-her-teachings/

Your refrain is as old as the Church herself, and its end remains frustrated. So, good luck with your theory. 😉

      Peace!

  6. Citing his predecessor, Pope Benedict, Francis went on to say that the Church “does not grow by means of proselytizing,” but “by attraction, by witnessing, by preaching,” and Paul had this attitude: proclamation does not make proselytization – and he succeeds, because, “he did not doubt his Lord.” The Pope warned that, “Christians who are afraid to build bridges and prefer to build walls are Christians who are not sure of their faith, not sure of Jesus Christ.” The Pope exhorted Christians to do as Paul did and begin to “build bridges and to move forward”

    http://en.radiovaticana.va/storico/2013/05/08/pope_francis_at_wednesday_mass_build_bridges%2C_not_walls/en1-690203

    1. And all the popes have warned about sin and hell and the devil, Phil. Warnings are part of witnessing, my friend. Especially to lapsed Catholics who have grown lax.

    2. Seriously…. “to consider women an inferior creation”? Ummmmm…. Hitchens seems to have missed that super clear and accessible Catholic teaching that Mary is the most perfect and highest creature ever created (she is higher than the angels). So, what on earth was he talking about? That is just bizarre, to say the least. Do you have any context for why he would say something so ignorant? He was too smart for that kind of basic error.

As for the rest, I’m just correcting you, my friend. I don’t care if you are scared for your soul or not, but please don’t misrepresent our popes. Thanks!

    3. So sorry, but you didn’t cite where the Church teaches that “women are an inferior creation”. Could you give me an actual quote, please? The rest of what you quoted implies nothing of the sort. Just because you misunderstand the Faith (which is your pattern, and it’s tiresome) doesn’t mean you may misrepresent it.

If you are speaking of husbands as the head of households and women as “submitting” (please note that the word “submission” means “under the mission of), that in no way implies that “women are an inferior creature”. Cite something, anything. Otherwise, go and learn.

You love to hang out on Catholic blogs (maybe your obsession is God trying to tell you something?), but you continually refuse to let go of your Jack Chick (or Christopher Hitchens) narratives, which are distortions of the Catholic Faith (hopefully simply misguided and not intentional). Sad.

    4. Hanging in with your responses is misguided, we have no common ground that I can see. Yes, your God is teaching me something….the toxicity of the humans who are insistently in possession of the sole truth. It is time that we divorce since it is obvious that my opinions and beliefs mean little. I will not respond to future comments by you on any site; I would beg the same indulgence although I doubt you will will grant it.

    5. Of course I will not grant it. These are open forums. Why do you hang out so much on Catholic blogs?

    6. And you are absolutely free to give your opinions, Phil. You do so quite regularly. But what you are not free to do is misrepresent others’ opinions, including what the Church teaches. You may disagree with the teaching, but you may not misrepresent that teaching as something other than it is.

    7. Women are no more inferior to men than jackrabbits are to wolves. It’s just that God designed each of us with particular gifts, talents, and skills that are suited to our physiology and psychology. To deny that is to deny the natural law….

    8. Ray, a simple dictionary definition
      nat·u·ral law
      noun
      1.
a body of unchanging moral principles regarded as a basis for all human conduct.
      2.
an observable law relating to natural phenomena.

The changing roles, psychology, parental responsibilities, employment changes with women breaking the class ceiling in business, government, fathers’ being sole caregivers, etc…..These are not unchanging moral principles as a basis for human conduct. The only things unchanging is that a man can impregnate a woman and a woman can incubate a fetus. Roles of men and women are cultural with the exception of breeding function.

    9. So you are of the “men and women are essentially the same, and interchangeable, except for incidental genitals” mindset? Just to clarify.

    10. Christopher Hitchens was judged rightly by Jesus Christ, as will both Phil and Ray…

    11. I pray for final perseverance….So that I don’t throw away in a second what I have spent a lifetime trying to do..In that, I worry…
