A Few Questions for Planned Parenthood…and Ourselves

The seven undercover videos of a behind-the-scenes look at Planned Parenthood that have recently been released by the Center for Medical Progress have sickened many of us. I just shudder every time I think of those images of human babies lying strewn out in a “pie dish,” as they call the specimen trays, cut up like chicken parts. Or the intact fetuses lying there–one was actually moving his arm and his leg. If you have seen them, or are about to see them, I think we all have a few questions we need to ask Planned Parenthood…and ourselves.

Do you know that convicted murderers sentenced for execution are entitled to protection against cruel and unusual punishment?

They are given a lethal injection that contains painkillers. They can’t have their heads or bodies crushed, or their hearts and brains cut out, or their limbs and other body parts torn off. These procedures are used in abortions at Planned Parenthood according to videos recently released by The Center for Medical Progress. Executed prisoners’ organs cannot, except in extremely rare cases, be donated to science because it would be “exploitive,” says Lawrence Gostin director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law at Georgetown University in the New York Times.

Do you know that pigs and other animals at a slaughter house are required by law to be stunned first before slaughter so they don’t feel pain?

Are these aborted babies given any kind of painkiller? No. While it is true that if the mother elects to be anesthetized it would affect the fetus, Harvard Law Professor I. Glenn Cohen stated in the National Review article Defending Fetal-Pain Laws by Michael New; “But most abortion clinics do not have the equipment or expertise to supply fetal anesthesia.”
Mr. New goes on to say, “Cohen like many in the mainstream media, claims science does not support the notion that the unborn can feel pain at 20 weeks, states that even if the unborn can feel pain, the proper remedy would be to provide anesthesia to the unborn.

According to New, “The Chronicle of Higher Education ran a useful article in the summer of 2011 detailing the debate within the scientific community on this issue. The article cited a number of prominent neonatal and pediatric researchers, none of whom are involved with the pro-life movement, who argue that the unborn can feel pain at 20 weeks.”

Do you still believe that they get the fetal organs from a “blob of tissue”?

Look at this ultrasound of an eleven week, four day old baby boy jumping for joy. See here. His mother had been thinking of aborting him until she saw this. Thankfully, she decided to keep him. What a gift this little guy will be to the world.
Does he look like a blob of tissue? The aborted babies in the videos do not look like a blob of algae or fungi, or even like chimps or monkeys. The tiny hands, and feet, and faces are unmistakably those of fellow human beings. One poor baby lying in a pan was moving his arm and his leg. Was he just left there to die? Oh, I wretch when I think of the answer.

Are you breaking the law? Or turning a blind eye to law breaking?

Do you know that it’s against the law to harvest organs from live babies?

According to Holly O’Donnell, a former Procurement Specialist at StemExpress a research laboratory that gets fetal organs from Planned Parenthood, who states in Video #7, watch here, that at an abortion facility she was ordered to cut open the face of a LIVE baby with scissors and take out its brain.

Do you know that any baby born alive whether from natural childbirth or a botched abortion is required by law to be given medical attention?

Cal. Health & Safety Code § 123435 (2011) provides that “an infant prematurely ‘born alive’ in the course of an abortion has the same rights to medical treatment as an infant of similar medical status prematurely born spontaneously.”
Not to have its face scissored open and its brain pulled out; or its LIVE kidney cut out and transplanted into a rat, according to Dr. Stacy Trasanco’s article Experiments on Intact Whole Live Fetuses and the Connection to Infant Formula, here at Catholic Stand.

Dr. Theresa Deisher is a world-renowned scientist in the field of stem cell research who holds patents after discovering adult stem cells in human hearts. Here is what she told Breitbart News:

“Biomedical companies prefer gestational ages of greater than 20 weeks for heart muscle,” she adds. “This is from reading their publications; so, I have always suspected that the babies in some of these cases were alive until their hearts were cut out.”

David Daleiden Executive Director of The Center for Medical Progress and Project Lead of the video investigation of Planned Parenthood made this devastating statement in an August 3 interview on the “Kresta in the Afternoon” radio show (Hour 1, Segment #3 of 3) on EWTN:

“Cate Dyer CEO of StemExpress admitted that they sometime receive fully intact fetuses shipped to their labs from abortion clinics. She admitted to us as prima facie evidence of born alive infants from those abortion clinics shipped to StemExpress and either being killed before, after or during, or dying in the process, which is infanticide. So no wonder they are terrified of that tape and of that tape becoming public.” (StemExpress had a temporary court injunction putting a hold on release of the tape, but the judge dismissed it August 21).

Do you know that’s it illegal to change any medical procedure for the purpose of better harvesting of organs?

According to the videos, Dr. Deborah Nucatola Senior Director of Medical Services Planned Parenthood Federation of America said, “So if we want a heart or a liver, we crush above or below the organ we want.” Some babies were delivered feet first, instead of head first, to better protect the brain if they wanted that organ intact.

Melissa Farrell Director of Research Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast says, “So if we alter our process, and are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, it’s all just a matter of line items.”

Do you know that experiments on live fetuses is highly unethical, and sometimes illegal?

According to Dr. Trasanco’s article, this has been going on for forty years and there has been no public outcry. Until now.

Do you know that it is illegal to sell fetal organs?

42 U.S. Code § 289g–2 – Prohibitions regarding human fetal tissue:  (a) Purchase of tissue; It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly acquire, receive, or otherwise transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration.

Yet, again and again, in the videos we hear Planned Parent executives talking about getting the best price for the organs, and just listing it as a “line item.” Dr. Mary Gatter President, Medical Directors’ Council, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, tells the investigators that she wants the highest price because “I want a Lamborghini, I said I want a Lamborghini. Exactly.”

Do you know that you don’t have to do this line of work anymore?

Many have left the abortion industry: Holly O’Donnell, Abby Johnson former director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas, Dr. Bernard Nathanson co-founder of the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) and who had overseen 75,000 abortions as director of an abortion clinic, and many others.

Cate Dyer CEO of StemExpress says,

“Oh yeah. And their lab techs freak out, and have meltdowns, and so it’s just like, yeah. I think, quite frankly, that’s why a lot of researchers ultimately, some of them want to get into other things. They want to look at bone marrow, they want to look at adipose- sort of adult human, kind of adult based sampling. They want to avoid publishing a paper that says it was derived from fetal tissue.”

You can walk away from this Culture of Death. You can turn your life completely around. Any of us can with the Lord’s help. You can speak out and tell the truth and help millions of little lives who are depending upon you.

You only have to take the first step.

I am praying for you. We all are.

  1. Very good article with clear, concise, and eloquent questions addressing the horror of the PP videos. These videos should be shown to Freshmen science majors and/or graduating seniors looking into majoring in the sciences. I was very active in the pro-life movement from my mother’s knee. Yet, when I entered college and began participating in research it was easy to enter into problematic research. Without my pro-life upbringing, I would have remained in my research dealing with embryonic brain stem cells of chickens that would have eventually been applied to humans. Another student researcher was involved in rat pup brain stem cells. Again, her project was aimed at eventual application to humans. As young adults on their own for the first time in the awe-inspiring world of collegiate science and research, it’s easy to be lead astray. These questions you ask are pointed enough to bring the focus back to whether what is done is necessary and good or blatantly for power or money. Thank you.

    1. Thank you kindly…You make some very good points. Yes, it’s easy for any of us to get distracted and sidetracked. Sadly, Dr. Nucatola in the videos, on pages 50-52 of the transcript of her video said, “But I really liked babies, believe it or not.” She wanted to be an OB/GYN but during her residency she treated a patient who would die from a botched abortion. It so “distressed and upset” her that she decided she wanted to teach doctors how to perform abortions safely. Sometime after, she was offered the job as Director of PP and she didn’t want to pass up such a good offer.

Also, sadly, in this article Professor of Neurobiology: Why We Don’t Need Aborted Babies for Life-Saving Research http://www.lifenews.com/2015/08/21/professor-of-neurobiology-why-we-dont-need-aborted-babies-for-life-saving-research/
we might not even need fetal tissue for research. It’s really looking like the unborn baby organ industry is being done just for the money.

Jamey, you certainly hit this one out of the park. What a clear, concise indictment of those marketing of our innocent pre-born brethren. I hope many have a chance to read this piece and experience a change of heart. We need both conversion and brave champions who share the truth! You, sir, are the latter.

    1. Very kind of you, Birgit. That sure means a lot to me coming from a master writer like you. Yes, if we just keep putting the truth out there, we can hope and pray that it will change a heart or a mind. After all, they’re just mistake-prone people like us, our dear brothers and sisters.
