There’s a lot of action happening over at Breadbox Media including a TON of new faces who have come on board. Each week in this article I will feature one of our great shows. Recently Rod Bennett debuted his brand new podcast The Popcorn Cathedral.
Rod Bennett is the author of “Four Witnesses; The Early Church in Her Own Words” which first appeared in 2002 and is now widely recognized as one of the classics of modern Catholic apologetics. Four other books have appeared since then, including “The Popcorn Cathedral”—a lively collection of essays on film fantasy from the Christian perspective and now the basis of a podcast by the same name.
Rod was also, for many years, the editor of Wonder Magazine, a cult-favorite media journal which numbered such luminaries as Ray Bradbury and Ray Harryhausen among its devotees. An accomplished speaker on film and other media topics, Rod has led seminars on the cinema of Frank Capra and John Ford, and the Star Wars films of George Lucas to appreciative audiences of more than 300 at once. He is also the author of several screenplays; most recently a contributing writer for Ignatius Press’ “Footprints of God” film series featuring Stephen Ray. He has discussed his work on television programs such as “The Journey Home” and “EWTN Bookmark” and on the radio with “Catholic Answers Live.” He is currently collaborating with Dr. Scott Hahn and Bishop Robert Barron on two different evangelistic outreach efforts. Rod lives in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with his wife Dorothy and their two children.
THE POPCORN CATHEDRAL on Breadbox Media
In many ways, the movie palace is the cathedral of our times, where people who might never darken the doors of a church often stumble across God working in His mysterious ways. The Popcorn Cathedral is where noted Christian author Rod Bennett explores this phenomenon on a weekly basis—and a place for Christians of all persuasions to geek out together about the deeper implications of today’s stirring modern mythologies.
