CS STUDY GROUP: The Trinity

SL_02RETIREMENTcoach_

In De Trinitate St. Augustine writes:

“There is no subject where a mistake is more dangerous, or the search more laborious, or discovery more advantageous than the unity of the Trinity: of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” –  St. Augustine, De Trinitate

Taking up this invitation of St. Augustine, I want to begin this “most dangerous” study by reading the book entitled  The Trinitarian Theology of St Thomas Aquinas

For the readers of my column, as well as my family and friends, this effort follows my genuine desire to also follow the advice of St. Peter who writes:

“Always be prepared to satisfy everyone that asketh a reason for the hope and faith which are in you.”  – 1 Peter 3.15

Now I invite Catholic Stand readers to join me in this study. Here’s my initial plan, which participants can help improve.

  1. At the end of the day do not forget Aquinas’s insight, you can know God exists but you cannot know His essence. And also at the end of the day, ours is a religion and a theology of mystery, and having revealed mystery – mystery revealed by God- as a foundation is a very good thing. Guy McClung, San Antonio
