Credo Scientific Dogma Part II: Powerism

corruption, culture, authentic

congress

Powerism is a generic term for any governing system in which one group of powered people controls, dominates, orders, and rules another group of non-powered people; while the powered people themselves do not follow laws, morality, ethics, or a code of conduct enforced for the non-powered group. Powered people have been called elites, aristocrats, rulers, dominants, “more equal pigs,” the ruling class, and “the protected.”
A clue that reveals a regime as powerist is when an elite group passes laws that do not apply to the elite powered people themselves. Several recent laws in the U.S. come instantly to mind. Put one way, powered people are elites who are “protected” by the laws, rules and regulations which are imposed on the non-powered. Almost always, a la the thought of political theorist Gaetano Mosca, the powered people in any society are numerically in a minority.

Powerism

Powerism can have, and over history has had many embodiments; e.g., forms of socialism, capitalism, marxism, progressivism, conservatism, liberalism, tyranny, oligarchy, democratism, and communism, to name a few. This is borne out if one simply considers all the different governing groups in the world today – everywhere in every country power people rule non-powered people, no matter what particular sociopolitical ideology the power people preach to and inflict on the non-powered. In each of these countries, there is patriotism, despite the differences in ideology; and this patriotism is a disguise for nurturing not the country, but those in power.

.
The principle of non-contradiction is a principle at the basis of truth as we know it. It is this: a thing cannot be and not be at the same time. Powerists of many forms, some of which appear diametrically opposed but are all powerist, employ and embody a contradiction principle, i.e., non-noncontradiction. Depending on what can be achieved, they assert “X is true,” and then they assert “Not X is true.” For these powerists, whether or not there is truth means nothing because they use truth or untruth indiscriminately to obtain, maintain, and increase power. So for them any “truth” – be it socialist, conservative, capitalist, progressive, liberal, democratic, communist, etc. – is the same as any other, as useful or useless as any other; and any “truth,” or its opposite, or both, can be used to obtain, maintain, and increase power.

.
Powerists look with envy on religion’s power – the power to control people so that they give up everything, all their liberty, all their property, even their very lives, to follow and live by and die in accord with the principles and ideals of the religion. Ultimately, the ultimate goal for powerists is precisely that kind of total control, that total totalitarianism, cradle to grave. Therefore, it is no wonder that powerists co-opt religious-type beliefs (based on non-materialist ideas such as care for future descendants and fear of the end times) and use scientific dogmas in creating their own government “religions” that seem to espouse belief in something beyond this life, something that cannot be scientifically proven. Good examples of this are the so-called “population bomb” that never exploded, “peak oil” that never peaked, and “global warming” that, at least for now should be presented as “?global?warming?” and accompanied by all the opinions of all respectable scientists on the subject, pro and con, and the data from all their work.

The Population Dud

The subtitle for 1968’s blockbuster nonfiction book, The Population Bomb (1968), was “Population Control Or Race To Oblivion?” Whatever the deficiencies of the alleged scientific truths in the book, powerists around the world glommed onto its theories, realizing that in the name of the common good and controlling population, they could control many aspects of the lives of the non-powered; and they could undercut the power of many religions by saying that goodness, conscience, right, and justice demanded population control and all that that entailed, including much that was in direct opposition to many accepted beliefs of several worldwide religions. It was hard to imagine in 1968 that this “population bomb” thinking would have three cataclysmically devastating effects on the entire world: 1. Hundreds of millions of unborn children would be aborted, never to see the sun, never to walk this earth, never to hug anyone, and never to say to anyone “I love you;” 2. The value of all human persons, their intrinsic value as humans from conception to natural death, would be diminished, denigrated, and often destroyed; and 3. Numerous cultures would self-destruct by not replacing themselves.

.
Even today, despite the reality of population fizzle, the powerists say “Good!” Now all of us, powerists included, are looking at country after country that is facing certain demographic death due to the implementation of population control measures and policies inflicted on a country by its “population control” chanting powerists. A subtle corollary of this “population control” myth – which further empowered the powerists – was and is the “me-me-me-now-now-now” mentality of millions of young people. Country after country is facing a dwindling number of workers to replace those who age – and, of course, the powerist population planner’s solution is to kill the aged. Powerist population control measures have resulted in the sex-selection abortions of at least 200,000,000 baby girls worldwide and many countries, particularly China, are facing a shortage of wives for young men. Because of the “population bomb” hoax, various cultures will cease to exist.

The Abyss Of Peak Oil

“Peak oil” was the theory that at some point in time the maximum rate of extraction of petroleum would be reached and then oil production would enter terminal decline. The geoscientist M. King Hubbert predicted in 1956 that “peak oil” would happen between 1965 and 1970. Powerists saw in “peak oil” precisely the type of crisis, real or not, that they could use in their drive for power, a crisis with the unquestionable imprimatur of science; and a crisis that would demand the quasi-religious other-directed care and concern of those living for future generations. The Wall Street Journal referred to peak oil as “a doomsday scenario looming large in the popular imagination.”
Powerists around the world relied on peak oil as the basis for seeking and then enacting additional controls over the lives of everyone on the planet.

By 2006 Hubbert’s “peak oil” theory had been shown to be wrong. To what alleged science could the powerists turn now for order and power over a “new world” ?

Global Crisis, Global Alarming

It is no accident that the powerists revel in any “science” that can be alleged to affect the whole world – that allegation is the basis for worldwide power. That is the appeal to the powerists of population “bombs,” fossil fuel shortages, and “global” warming. Like revivalist preachers, powerists rant that everyone on the earth is affected and, if the powerists’ power is not increased, the individual’s liberty diminished, the world as we know it will end.
Certain expressions of “global warming” and “climate change” are the new doomsday dogmas of the powerists, the dogmatic basis of warmist religion; and the climate scientists who abet the powerists are this generation’s scientistic soldiers.

.
There is outright deceit and dishonesty regarding the work of some, and unscientific treatment, even inquisitorial persecution, of many engaged in these studies. Yet, none of this is a sufficient basis to cede even more personal liberty to the powerists. Based on the failure of the powerists in the past, over and over again, there is no reason, even if all they say is true, to empower them to attempt to fix anything, let alone anything “global.” To borrow from the Book Of Job, they should be asked: “Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place?”

Climate Inquisition, Climate Heretics

Repeatedly, rational folks, scholars, and seekers after truth have decried the burning at the stake of Giodorno Bruno in 1600 A.D., condemned by the Inquisition for teaching heresy – cosmic pluralism and other beliefs. Another “martyr for science” is Galileo, called by some the “father of science,” who around 1615 A.D. was investigated by the Inquisition, tried, found “vehemently suspect of heresy,” forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. Religions deal with heretics by calling them heretics, punishing them, publicly, ostracizing them, and worse.
And the Religion Of Science is no different in dealing with “climate heretics,” except for the new tortures of cutting off research funds and “investigating” the heretics using all the tools of modern technology. Such investigations are done at the highest levels of the state in America:

“In news that should shock and anger Americans, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that not only has she discussed internally the possibility of pursuing civil actions against so-called “climate change deniers,” but she has ‘referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action.’ Lynch was responding to a question from Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., who urged Lynch to prosecute those who “pretend that the science of carbon emissions’ dangers is unsettled,” particularly those in the “fossil fuel industry” who supposedly have constructed a “climate denial apparatus”. Lynch is apparently following in the footsteps of California Attorney General Kamala Harris and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, both of whom have opened up investigations of ExxonMobil for allegedly lying to the public and their shareholders about climate change.” (Hans Von Spakovsky, The Daily Signal, March 10, 2016).

The literature is replete with examples of inquisitional tactics used against any scientist who would challenge the AGW magisterium – the theory of anthropogenic global warming.

“We must have a consensus,” French President Francois Hollande declared this past May at the Business & Climate Preparatory Summit in Paris . . . President Hollande, however, is not waiting for the miraculous to happen; he prefers the iron fist and the guillotine of the Revolution. That is apparent in the case of meteorologist Phillipe Verdier to whom millions of French viewers have turned to for years for their daily weather news. Verdier was sacked from his celebrity weatherman position on France Television (the government-owned station) earlier this month for the heresy of publishing a book challenging the apocalyptic “consensus” that claims that anthropogenic (manmade) global warming, or AGW, is a “crisis” demanding global draconian action.” (Wm. F. Jasper; Mathematicians, Legendary Physicist, IPCC Expert Throw Wrenches Into UN Climate Summit; The New American, 29 October 2015).

Dennis Clayson has realized there is a new warmist inquisition at work in science:

“Whether global warming will turn out to be true or false, and whether there is anything we could do about it, is something that only time will clarify. In the meantime, the debate has highlighted a disturbing trend in modern science . . . When these new high priests first looked at the entrails of their computer sacrifices, they declared the end of the world was nigh unless we stopped producing greenhouse gases, which unfortunately include almost everything, including water vapor and human breathing . . . Science and politics then merged. This, in itself, should have been a warning that something was amiss. The politics demanded that the entire structure of society needed to be rearranged, and not surprisingly, altered into a vision compatible with what the far left had historically wanted even before anyone had heard of global warming. Opposition that would be expected to such a radical political movement was then identified as ignorance of science . . . No one can practice science like a group of political zealots and not expect to produce a backlash of “deniers.” To expect anything less is to exhibit a naivete that is unbecoming to anyone calling themselves a scientist.”

For other examples of current science-based inquisition, check out the treatment of vaccination heretics, fetal-pain heretics, GMO food heretics, natural medicine heretics, sex-gender heretics, same-sex “marriage” denigrating heretics, and abortion-cancer- connection (“ABC”) heretics .

Scientist Soldiers

In his thoughts about the use/abuse of science by those in power, Robert S. Cohen begins with two spot-on pertinent quotes, one from C.S. Lewis and one from Max Horkheimer:
“ C.S. Lewis: ‘What we call man’s power over nature turns out to be a power exercised by some men over other men, with nature as its Instrument.’
Max Horkheimer: ‘The ideological dimension of science comes to light, above all, in what science closes its eyes to’. ’’ (Cohen, Id. P. 223)
For Cohen, many scientists who had become “servants of power,”have enlisted now as are “soldiers of power”. Soldiers must obey, says Cohen, and, in the past, the task of the scientist was to question, not to “obey” when someone said something was true (Id., pp. 226-227). Today science is permeated, funded, and corrupted by the “scientific obedience to power.” (Id., p. 227). Scientists have become the laboratory mercenaries of powerism.

Scientists: Disbelieve, Disobey, Do True Science

Now anytime a power person, any politician, or any office holder asserts, “Science says,” “there is a consensus among scientists,” “it is accepted by the scientific community,” or “both common sense and science tell us”- what is said must be questioned. Most certainly, any time a power person says “Science demands _________”, it is our duty, to disbelieve and to disobey.

  1. Perhaps you should shift your comfortable population density per square mile of 84 in the USA to Bangladesh where that number is almost 3000 – then any subjectivity bias may fall into perspective.
